PIA CEO Unveils Major Plans for 2025
PIA CEO Announces Fleet Expansion and Salary Hike for 2025
KARACHI: Acting CEO of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Khurram Mushtaq, has revealed ambitious plans to revive the airline by reintroducing several grounded aircraft into operations starting next year.
Mushtaq announced that over the next six months, PIA aims to bring Boeing 777 and Airbus aircraft back into service, increasing the operational fleet size to 24.
Currently, out of PIA’s 34 aircraft, only 16 were functional when Mushtaq took charge. However, the airline’s team has swiftly activated three additional aircraft, including a Boeing 777, an Airbus 320, and an ATR, bringing the total to 19 operational planes.
The Boeing 777 will primarily be deployed for flights to European destinations, while preparations for the 2025 Hajj operations are already underway.
“Our objective is to have all 34 aircraft operational by the end of this year,” stated Mushtaq. He emphasized that these efforts would significantly boost PIA’s revenue and operational capacity.
In addition to fleet enhancements, PIA has approved a 25% salary increase for its employees, marking a step towards improving staff welfare.
Last year, PIA added two more aircraft to its fleet despite the challenging economic conditions in the country. A newly acquired Airbus 320 has already completed its first commercial flight from Islamabad to Karachi, showcasing the airline’s ongoing progress.
PIA spokesperson Abdullah Hafeez Khan highlighted the government’s support for PIA’s development, noting the gradual increase in operational aircraft as a sign of recovery and growth.
