Former K-pop star Ahn Ye Song, formerly part of the group INSTAR, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a fatal drunk driving accident that occurred in February in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, Seoul. Reports reveal that Ye Song was driving her Mercedes-Benz SUV while heavily intoxicated when she collided with an elderly delivery worker. She initially fled the scene but later expressed regret and reached a settlement with the victim’s family, which led to a reduction in her sentence from 10 to 8 years.

In court, her defense acknowledged that Ye Song had been excessively drinking at an industry event and claimed she had no recollection of the incident. However, during the subsequent hearing, she attributed her actions to financial stress due to declining work opportunities, expressing deep remorse.
